Grant’s on the phone. He has eyes on you.

Got it.

Ghost nods. “Let me ask you a question. Why the fuck do you really want me back? Do you really want me dead so bad?”

“I don’t want you dead. I want you to take your spot by my side where you belong. I’ll even let you bring that gorgeous redhead. Bridget, was it? I’m sure I can find some uses for her.”

“Listen here, you motherfuc…” I reach over and grab Ghost’s hand before he can finish that threat. It seems to piss Grant off more when Ghost doesn’t react. Ghost takes a deep breath and rolls his shoulders back. “I’ll pass. We’re fine right where we are.”

“That is until you have nowhere else to go. You don’t think I can get to you there? It’s just a matter of time before you fuck up, Gabriel.”

I hate the look Ghost gets when he has any contact with this asshole. It hurts my heart to think about what he went through growing up, and every time he hears that man’s voice, it’s like he’s zapped back to that time. I squeeze his hand again, trying my best to comfort and remind him that he’s not alone anymore.

“You really that sure of yourself? Fuck off. And if you ever mention her again, I’ll rip your dick off and shove it down your goddamn throat.” Ghost stabs the end call button, his shoulders sag, and his head drops forward. I get up from the stool and pull him into my arms. He buries his face in my neck and inhales.

“We’re going to end this,” I promise. “One way or the other.”

“We?” Ghost pulls back to look at my face with a raised brow. “Are you a secret assassin that I don’t know about?”

I punch his arm. “You know what I mean. It means we’re all in this together.”

“I couldn’t agree more, Sunshine.” He pecks my lips and then pats my ass. “Finish breakfast.”

I roll my eyes and make my way back to my stool. Ghost punches in a number, and it rings through the speakerphone.

“Hello?” Nikolay’s voice filters through.

“You guys still good?”

“Are you worried about me, Moy dorogoy?”

Ghost’s face looks suspiciously like he’s blushing. Banger and I exchange a wide-eyed look before looking back at Ghost. “Grant’s full of threats, so yeah, I’m worried.”

“Fuck Grant,” Nikolay says. “Are you good?” There seems to be so much more behind those three little words.

“I’m fine,” Ghost answers. “I knew what would happen when I sent him that picture yesterday.”

“We’ll talk about it when we get there. We have a plan if he really does have eyes on us.”

And I’m going to be fifty shades of worried until they do get here.
